Waking up can be hard, and getting out of bed can be even harder. Wouldn’t it be nice if you could just wake up, jump out of your bed, and take the day head-on just like your last night’s self-actualized self thought you would?  Well, here are a few stretches that you can do from the comfort of your bed to help you get in the zone and get going.

Neck Stretch

Let’s start with the easiest one. Relax your shoulders and slowly move your left ear towards your left shoulder. Use your hand and give your head a gentle push to feel that extra stretch. Now hold for 10 seconds, then repeat for the other side.

Knee to chest

Now, as you’re lying flat on your back, bring your knees to your chest and hold them there with your arms. You should feel a pleasant little stretch in your lower back. Hold it there for 30 seconds, and then let go. Repeat the same with your other leg.

Spinal Twist

Lay back flat on your back, raise your left knee, and gently roll it over to the right side. Ensure that both of your shoulders are in constant contact with the bed. If that feels comfortable, turn your head to your left side and slowly stretch your hand in the direction of your head. Hold this position for 20 seconds, and then repeat with the other side.

Cobra Stretch

Now, it's time to get off your back. Lie down flat on your stomach, place your hands beneath your shoulders, tuck your elbows, and slowly raise your head and chest while keeping your groin in contact with the bed. Hold this position for 10 seconds, then let go. Repeat this eight to ten times.

Upper Back Stretch

It’s time to sit up. Sit on the edge of your bed with your feet flat on the floor. Now interlock your fingers and stretch your hands over your head. Hold it there for 15 seconds, and then slowly bring your arms to shoulder level. You should feel a stretch in your shoulder blades; hold it there for 15 seconds and let go.

Note: If you’re a beginner, make sure to not overstretch. Your body will become flexible gradually, so give it time and go easy. You can also use a natural relief oil to increase flexibility and help with cramps.
